Do you find that your symptoms feel very up and down and that they can be unpredictable from day to day? This is what we call the "Boom-Bust" cycle. At ExPhysEm, I work with patients to stabilise this pattern using practical and tailored management strategies so that individuals can sustainably re-introduce activity into their lives, without feeling worse.
Are you wanting to:
- Stabilise your symptoms?
- Minimise your boom-and-bust patterns?
- Understand your health conditions?
- Return to work?
- Get back to studying?
- Manage your health around existing work/study?
- Prepare for exams?
- Manage your brain fog?
- Be able to get out of bed?
- Increase your physical & cognitive capacity?
- Spend more time with friends & family?
- Travel?
- Go on a holiday?
- Be able to better understand & predict your symptoms?
What Is a Clinical Exercise Physiologist?
I'm a Clinical Exercise Physiologist (CEP) but don't be fooled by the name, although I'm specialised in exercise prescription, my treatment focus is on education and energy management to stabilise and improve patient symptoms, promote independence, predictability, and overall quality of life.
CEP's are University trained practitioners with a minimum of an Undergraduate and Master's Degree in rehabilitation. Traditionally CEP's are trained to assess patients with chronic health conditions and musculoskeletal injuries in order to create tailored management strategies for improving their health and/or injury.
Conditions That I Treat
As someone living with dysautonomia and fatigue myself, I went down a unique pathway of specialisation and ongoing development to treat using education via a patient led approach. With personal experience, years of tertiary education, and specialist training in both Australia and the UK, I have been able to develop a bespoke program to help those living with invisible illness.
The most common conditions that I see in my practice are:
- Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome/ Postural Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS/PoTS)
- Orthostatic Intolerance (OI)
- Dysautonomia
- Hypermobile Ehlers Danlos Syndrome (hEDS)
- Autism
- Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
- Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/ Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (CFS/ME)
- Post viral fatigue
- Long COVID/ Post-acute Sequelae of COVID-19 (PASC)
- Fibromyalgia
- Persistent Pain
- Central Sensitisation
